when standing in front of the car looking at the engine, the torque sequence is as follows.
Head bolts...
8---6---2---4---10
9---3---1---5---7
you torque them in three steps
1 - 29lbs-ft
2 - 51lbs-ft
3 - 72lbs-ft
as for the rocker arm assembly bolts, the torque sequence is different between the F22B1 and F22B2 but the torque specs are the same...
8mm bolts = 16lbs-ft
6mm bolts = 9lbs-ft

yes and no. I was referring to the thread size and you would be referring to the head size... if I'm not mistaken.

lol what?
head bolts = 14mm, rocker arm assembly bolts = 10mm backside, 12mm frontside & midrow.
unless your mean the vtec monster head, then that would make me feel dumb

dang, i was afraid of that. how long do you think i can go with this problem? i will need some time to save up money and get a new head. rather than a new head, i might just get me a new motor cause this engine has 340,000 miles.

what was your main goal here??? to replace the head gasket??? did you use a new clean head? i also had a broken bolt on the rocker a few days ago...bout died for a min...lol but it was cake to get out just used some needlenose pliers. i had it off to replace the o rings on the bottom but....my main problem is i have a BHG and will be doing a head job on my car in the next couple weeks. i would love any help on this as i will be doing it myself and i have never done anything like this before...

Re: 97 Accord Head bolts TORQUE specs?
Im new to the accord scene so the goal was just to replace the o rings on the bottom of the rocker arms, which i never knew cause i've always had an civic or s2000.
check the FAQ thread. there should be something on how to remove BHG.

What about the engine cover? What is the torque specification? I need to do my valve cover gaskets, I am leaking oil into my spark plugs.

no problem
uh, it's been a while and I don't have my manual handy... but iirc start in the middle and work outward alternating sides as you go.
