I just got my oil changed 3 weeks ago and yesterday i noticed that the maint req light flashes 10 times when i start my car, i read the manuel but dont totally understand what it says, the car is maintained by a 3rd party dealer, you think they forgot to reset it? (its a 2003 Accord EX V6 coupe)

Yes, they didn't reset it. The procedure is in your owner's manual, or stop by the place that changed your oil and ask them to reset it.

Oil change 3 weeks ago & the light didn't start blinking until yesterday? I think it can't be reset anyway until AFTER it starts blinking. So they couldn't have done it anyway.

I change oil more often than 10k miles on mine, so the lamp is always going off whenever it wants. Just reset it and go on. YOU need to keep track of mileage from when the oil was changed. The car will only count from the lamp reset.

Sounds like I'm not the only one who's glad the 03 Accord DOESN'T have the "Maintenance Minder". Someone who's been using the Miles/Time method for 20 years (like me) has a hard time believing that he can suddenly go twice as long on oil than he did before. IMO most manufacturers are over-extending the maintenance intervals to improve the all important "True Cost To Own" equation. When companies start advertising 100k mile tune-ups, and extending fluid change intervals, it gives me the idea that they are stretching things to the limit.

it's basically a giant calculator in the computer that takes into consideration things like

driving distance
average speed
outside temp
gear changes on auto

and calculates out the oil life

in my 02 CL type S I can safely go 7500 miles on an oil change (15% left). I change oil every 4-5K regardless. I am lucky and have access to a SOS lab

3rd party dealer whats that, sounds like a quick lube, im sure they reuse the old crushwasher also and put that stupid yellow crap on the drain plug

oh and yeah im sure they didnt reset the light

Depends on what minder interval you're on. If you have 30k miles, the air filter would be included. If the car is 3 years old, it would include changing the brake fluid. The owners manual explains what should be done, and when.

It goes by milage, not by oil life

Just reset the light turn car off hold the reset botton on the closter turn the switch on don’t star the car hold it for 10 seconds release the bottom turn switch off and them star the car and light will be reset
