CAR KEEPS OVER HEATING
my car keeps over heating for basically no reason. i let all the air out of my coolant lines and put new coolant in. my thermostat isn't bad either... is there anything else that would make my car over heat?

does your car drive normal? my first thought would be headgasket. when it drive does it have sweet smell out of the tailpipe?...
if you touched the intakemanifold...there is a waterpipe that goes to the intakemanifold and if you messed with that it may leak or the seal in the inatkemanifold gasket might be bad. sooo i would check that. it doesnt leak from anywhere?

Describe this "basically no reason" for us, if you would. See, when a noob like yourself posts a problem and gives absolutely zero description of the symptoms of or circumstances leading up to said problem, it's basically impossible for us to do anything but ramble off lists of parts.
Why don't you tell us something like, I dunno, what kind of car you drive, maybe? You can add to that the trim level, the engine, any mods you've done within thirty days of the problem starting, etc. Does the overheating happen when you're moving or still? Is it rapid or slow? Can you control it by turning the heat on or not? Help us help you.

Compression test, check your coolant to see if it looks like oil got in there, and it smoke alot and burn oil.

there has to be a reason or else it wouldnt overheat
to the op, give us a lil more info and if you messed with the intake mani like posted above there is a water line on it, that could be your issue but still we need more info

it did it tonight. i just put on a new skunk2 intake manifold. it drives fine. more power than normal haha, but i know the intake manifold was installed right, a certified mechanic helped me and a friend (who put his skunk2 intake mani on himself) install it. i know my head gasket is a little bad cuz it leaks a little.
it'll run normal temp during the day after i let out air out of the coolant hoses then torward the night when i'm on my way home, it starts to over heat. it actually random when it does it.
no oils getting into the coolant. and there are no leaks.

ok im in the same position also
My car is a 95 Civic
and radiator works fine, keeps overheating
water is being replaced every other day
car shakes badly when the car is still, like its ready to give out
possible blown head gasket?
or maybe time to throw in a new engine in their?

ok. well looks like all of you guys were right. i am almost positive its my head gasket.
went through everything and found that my head gasket is letting exhuast get into my coolant lines creating bubbles that make the car over heat. the tear or blow out in the head gaskets right around the 2nd cylinder i think thats what the compression test said anyways...
anyone know a cheap place for head gaskets? or a gasket set in general?
how are the ebay ones? are gaskets gaskets for the most part? (i only have a semi stock engine)

I'm going to assume you have a '92-95 Civic with a D15B7 engine, because the B7 is notorious for head gasket issues. If you would have told us so in the first place, I could have saved you some aggrivation.
Do not buy cheap anything. Honda released a Technical Service Bulletin years ago about head gasket issues on the '88-95 non-VTEC D-series engines. They specify an updated head gasket (part number 12251-P01-004; you'll need 1) and new head bolts (part number 90005-PM3-004; you'll need 10) to address the problem.
I would highly suggest you buy those specific parts if you intend to change the head gasket (which I don't particularly recommend, but you can do as you wish). They are going to cost you around $177.10 + tax at any Honda dealership parts department. You must install and torque them as per the TSB: http://dmcknight.net/forumpics/97-047TSB.jpg (thanks to fireant for hosting). Don't forget to have the head checked for warpage.
