S2K '06 Wrench Icon - What does it mean?
Hello,
I have a 2006 S2K and normally when I start the car it gives me the gauges for the clock, temperature, and mileage, but now when I start the car it gives me the gauge with a wrench icon and on the right it has the oil life which is 15%. I am wondering if the wrench icon just means that I need to get an oil change or a reminder for regular maintenance or something else. I have 11k on the car. should I be worried?
Thanks for any info that you could provide.

Dont be worried. It's just letting you know that maintenance is due. I've never let my oil minder get below 20%, so I've never experienced this.
I do recall reading that this light will kick on when the oil minder is getting closer to 0%. Read the manual, and it will explain EVERYTHING.

the oil drain plug is loss 15% below factory specs. so, you need to torque it down to factory recommendation...

I thought it came on the 05's and up, although I may be incorrect. Based on research I did on the forums, it bases it on mileage and how you drive it (i.e.: rpm ranges it goes through).

Re: (shamoo)
Thanks guys/gals for all the help. Yeah, I was thinking that it is just the regular maintenance for the oil to be replace but wanted to make sure. I will change my oil this weekend.
Oh yeah, I don't have the S2K manual and I am about to order one. Thanks again for the help!

Yeah, 06 was the first year of the 'oil minder'. I actually like it. Of course it's not going to be very accurate, especially having synthetic in there. It goes off of rev's, and throttle. It pretty much determines when the oil need's to be changed judging the way you drive the car.
