The reason you need a smaller gap is due to the fact that with a turbo, cylinder pressure is increased. It is more difficult for the spark to jump the gap. That is why you use a shorter distance (gap).

well i think its the amount of fuel in the cylinder in a boosted setup makes it harder to spark. a/f ratio is usally lower

-7 at 28-34 is good for your needs.
you sould consider changing to a more race style plug. they seem to work better as well with boosted.
R5672A-7 would be your needs.

i don't think your spark plugs fire when the intake valves are open lol.

What does that have to do with anything? Air has mass. Compressed air is more dense (more mass per unit volume). Making it more difficult for the spark to jump the gap.

The whole reason the gaps need to be closed up is nopt how much fuel... Its air, the pressure of the charge entering the chamber blows out the spark if the gap is too big, reducing gap reduces resistance, and makes it easier for the spark to jump, and harder for the charge to blow it out.

charge entering the chamber blows out the spark if the gap is too big....... blows it out.
