2001 Accord - Reman Transmission and ATF Filter
Hey Guys.. Great forum!...
I own a 2001 Accord LX-V6 and a few months ago my tranmission went south and was replaced by Hondas extended warranty... And part of the process, Honda added and installed an External ATF Filter.. The filter is mounted just in front of the radiator if you are looking down in the engine compartment...
My question is, does anyone know if this is a serviceable filter... I want to be able to replace this filter every two years and I have called my dealer and talked to the parts manager and the service rep, and they have no idea if their is a replacement part# for this filter and they are not even sure if it is serviceable.
Does anyone know if I can get a replacement filter from Honda and the honda part#
thanks alot guys!

It is not even close to being an oil filter type.... It is in inline filter maybe about 1" dia and about 3 in long...

No, you can't replace just the filter. It only comes with the reman trannys. If I were you, only for the warranty on it (3yr's 36kmi's) I would leave it. If you mess with ANY part of the tranny or filter you run the risk of voiding the warranty. Just leave it and if it goes out in the next 3yr's or 36kmi's just save you reciept and have them put another one in there.

Re: 2001 Accord - Reman Transmission and ATF Filter (cb900f2)
Hey Guys. I found this info, but the problem is, when I contacted my Honda Dealer (Parts Department), they are not sure if the part# is a replacement filter only, or the entire kit (Filter, hoses, clamps).. He claims he contacted Honda and did not get a responce...
email to the dealer
Les... I came across the following part# for a replacement external ATF filter for the my 2001 Accord LX-V6 from a Honda Monthly Tech ServiceNews
(US) that I had the Transmission replaced with a reman with the new external ATF line filter..
The Honda part# they reference is 25420-P24-A01 , is this correct?, and is it the replacement filter only or is this the complete external ATF kit?
(Filter, hoses, clamps)
It was from the June 2002 Honda ServiceNews

The actual ATF filter kit is only sent with remanufactured A/T from American Honda to the dealer. The filter should be replaceable.
Here is a TSB regarding Honda/Acura repair/exchange of A/T to give some more insight:

Re: filter..
I am very surprised how many folks (the ones with the reman transmission) did not notice or realize that with the reman transmission, Honda installed an external ATF filter! They also installed the filter for the Odyssey, TL..

Re: filter.. (361 accord)
It should be moutned just below your rigth hand side rad fan (right underneath).
Or follow the ATF lines that exit the transmission
