Default 98 Accord - Changing Timing Belt and Water Pump, should I change Oil pump etc.

First, here here for Touring Accord...what a Fantastic Guy.

Its been awhile I have changed a timing belt. I have a list of purchases. Planning to buy from Hondaautomotiveparts.com unless there is a better place. So far $653 of parts.

After much searching, below are parts I found in a post that should be replaced that I am not sure about.

Oil Pump Assembly 15100-PAA-A01 128.25
Front oil pump (drive) seal 15114-PT0-003 3.05
Oil pump gasket 15113-PT0-003 2.33
Cover Assembly oil seal 91214-PAA-A01 10.90

I have a 98 Accord EX 4 cyl with 95K miles. The two seals I have changed in my Civic were the crankshaft and camshaft seal. Should I bother changing the four parts listed above? Thanks...Its nice to get some Karma back. Thankyou.

I wouldn't bother changing the oil pump, unless it was bad. On many cars, the oil pump last the useful life of the car.

Thanks.. I am replacing more than the time and water pump...spark plugs, wires, radiator hoses, radiator...I am chaning anything that can now go wrong. I make trips to Vegas with the kids in the car. I cannot take a chance.

So dont bother with the oil pump seal either. It appears I am only changing the Crank and Cam shaft seals. Should I bother with the balancer shaft seal? This is the first I have heard of this part.

Found out that HondaautomotiveParts does not support this forum. They use to. That really suck! How can I give them my business when they dont support us. Meanwhile, I cant seem to find an online store that supports H-T.

$653 is a little high for the timing belt and water pump, and oil seals.

Check this link out:

A Honda OEM timing belt package is only $133.95, which includes the timing belt, balance shaft belt, water pump, power steering and compressor belt.

Edit: I accidently deleted my previous post.

Yes, you should change the balance shaft seal while you are at it. Cheap insurance.

Too cool, so I owe you many drinks. You provided me a website that will save me at least $50. I am going to save on that timing belt package and other parts as well. I did notice however, other parts are more expensive so I will have to use two vendors. Thanks for the money saving tip....really.

Is it hard to change the Balancer Shaft seal? Should I also change the Balancer Shaft pulley? I have never dealt with this. I have only a Civic Helms. Planning to buy the Accord Helms this coming weekend.

Good Karma to you

lol, save a drink for yourself after you changed the parts. Removing the balance shaft seal should be similar to the other seals; a oil seal puller or pick tool works well.

If you are refering to balance shaft tensioner pulley, it probably doesn't need it at this first belt change at around 95K. The second change at the next 90k or 105k, whichever time you choose to do the next belt change, I would recommend changing both the timing belt and balance shaft belt tensioners.

So in other words, no need to change the timing belt tensioner and balancer belt tensioners explaining more bluntly.

If that is the case, I will only change the seals. I have never heard of an oil seal removal tool.

thanks for the education.
