youre probly low on brake fluid...if its a brake light out, itll come on the first time you step on the pedal, but if it flickers when youre taking turns and *****, check the fluid level and for pad wear

Re: (TheWalrus)
I though the parking brake light came on when you were low on fluid. The Brake Lamp light is for bulb failure. It randomly comes on every now and then on my car.

The light labeled Brake Lamp only comes on when you have a brake light out. The Brake light will come on if your parking brake is up (or bad sensor), or if you are low on brake fluid (again, or bad sensor). The ABS light will come on if you have a problem with your anti-lock brake system

as said - it's the PARKING BRAKE / HAND BRAKE light that will flash on or stay on when you're low on brake fluid.
the BRAKE LAMP light should simply mean you have a brake light out.
However.. on my old 4th gen, all three lights: brake lamp, parking brake and abs light came on when I had a brake lamp fail

If they're all working, just pull the bulb. I rewired my led spoiler (it was cut when i got the car) and ever since then, it's been on. Even though all 3 lights work fine.

same thing happens on mine. My right front rotor is pretty messed up though and I have it in my garage just havn't done it yet. Does the car really sense when your rotor or pads are bad while you're moving and not stepping on the brake?

The car "knows" because as your pads wear the piston pushes out. As it pushes out, the fluid level decreases. When its decreased below a preset level, the brake light tuns on.

I replaced the pads and not the rotor. I know, dumb move, but maybe since the rotor is fairly thin it does the same thing?

This is the BRAKE LAMP Gremlin......Just deal with it if youve already tried everything else.
My comes and goes and its been that way through several fluid swps, pad swaps, bulb swaps........It add to my Dashboard Christmas Tree!
SRS
ABS
BRAKE LAMP
BRAKE
I am convinced the MORE lights you have on, the faster your car is!

Maybe, but I'm not sure I buy it. I had my fluid up to the high mark before I did the pad swap and it light didn't disappear immediately after the pad swap. It took a week
Nirvtec - I also think it might just be a bad connection/relay/gremlin somewhere. Back when I first bought the car it would come on sometimes when it was really hot out. Anyway, it's gone now...

the float in your reservoir may have been stuck at the bottom...thats why those 2 wires are on the lid
