right now im using the blox type A cams in my gsr with 10:8 cr and i really like them. good midrange and the top end pulls pretty good in 2nd and 3rd gears. I was considering going for a bigger cam, but are there any stage 2 cams out there that will increase power throughout the entire power band, but without losing my midrange? Ive searched on this, but couldnt find anyone who could really answer my question..

Are there any of you guys who have personally stepped up from a stage 1 to stage 2 cam? And how was the difference?

from my understanding of cams our b18c1 engines prefer long duration/long overlapping cams becaouse we need more scavenging and time to fill the combustion chamber especially at high rpms. skunk stage 2 cams i have heard good things about, as well as the toda spec b, and the jun type 3 cams. you don't lose that much midrange power and you will see a increase in the powerband in the higher rpms. there is no way to improve power over the full rpm range with cams on a n/a engine, so it's kind of a compromise and your personal preference of where you want your peak torque and powerband location to be.

current mods are aem cai, 68mm tb, oem gsr intake mani, blox type A cams, jdm itr header, test pipe, jdm itr catback, itr tranny, flywheel, exedy stage 1 clutch.

I want to hear feedback from people who have moved up from stage 1 to stage 2 cams. Im a midrange kind of guy, i just want to know if ill be sad if i spend all that money on a stage 2 cam setup, and find out that my midrange is totally gone.

yeah i need to get it tuned for sure. You guys know of any good tuners down here in socal? All i need is a virgin p28 when i go in to tune right?

You might consider the Buddy Club spec 3+ cams. They have a great mid-range and would not give up much top-end at all on your motor. Do a search and you will find several dyno/comparison threads on them.

+ jumper harness and some sort of engine management. You would realize more hp doing that then upgrading your cams, plus your engine will be happier

cool. whats the cheapest route for good engine management? It seems that everyone here uses CROME. I checked out Phearable.net, and it says i can choose what program i want. I dont pay extra for that right? I just pay the 150 bucks for the chipped ecu and then i take it to a tuner and he will do the rest right? I think thats how it works, im super noob to tuning.
