Default Removing Rear Interior/Trunk Panels on 98 EK Hatch?

I've recently discovered a leak in my 98 Civic Hatch, and thanks to the H-T forum search, plus an $85 diagnostic check at my local Honda dealer, I found it was coming from my headlight gasket. Now instead of paying $250+ to get the gaskets replaced, I am doing it myself with some craft foam and KTV sealant.

My question is, in order to get to the 4 8mm bolts holding the headlights in place, I need to remove the plastic trim/panels in the hatch area. After quickly examining the rear, I believe the sequence goes like so:

1) remove trim covering rear speaker
2) remove trim surrounding hatch latch
3) remove trim surrounding tail lights/backseat/etc...

Is there not a better way to get to the tail lights, and if not, does anyone have any tips/suggestions on how to do this right?

Thanks.

The way I get to my tail-lights is taking my speaker covers and speakers out, and then prying then reaching down with a socket driver and unbolting them.

Well, there are plastic doors, but my hands are too big to use them the right way. I end up using them for loosening or tightening the nuts after I break them.

For the ek its a hassle just to check the lights, they have covers that go over them but that only lets you check wiring, you have to remove the whole plastic panel, then remove the covers over the light then remove the speaker grilles, and unbolt all of th ose screws then you have to remove every screw ont eh side. Slide out the whole big plastic panel now your whole side of the car is exposed. Shitty but what can you do?
