96 Del Sol S with 99-00 Civic Front End Conversion
okay, i know there are a million posts about this subject. also i have searched...but i have a few questions and im going to post pics along this process.
I bought the del sol yesterday and i have alot of parts layin around and parts cars. but first off with the 99-00 civic front end, is there any modification you have to do the hood? like at the rear of the hood the del sol fenders curve in toward the engine bay, and also which hinges are used? i have a 98 Civic and i know the hinges wont' just bolt on. but as for the rest of the conversion i have that covered. Thanks guys. i'll keep yall posted.

These two are really helpful...

Those should at least give you an idea on what is involved. Good luck man! I personally think it does not look very good as if ANYTHING, an EG front end looks a bit more "in place" than an EK...but its your car!
Here's another pretty helpful thread..

And here's a pic of a DC2 JDM front on a Del Sol...

Re: (TyConway21)
i'm not trying to be a jerk or anything, but if you want a 99-00 Si front end why don't you buy a 99-00 Si?
save up a little more cash if money is the issue. don't go changing a perfectly fine OEM del Sol front end.
just my .2 cents.

the only thing stupid in this thread is you wanting to change the front end of a del sol into an ek, something that a million other people drive. whats the point of getting a del sol to just butcher it. nothing from your 98 is straight bolt on end of story
if you have a 98 civic why don't you just put the 99-00 front end on that? i think your stupid just my .02 cents.

If he wants to do it, who cares? Like he said, he only wants information, not your opinion of how it looks or who agrees/disagrees with his ideas. Damn, that **** pisses me off.

who cares what you think? i answered his question, and besides this is an open forum. yes its his car and he can do what he wants with it, but im just saying its stupid.
radiator support needs to be change
fenders need to be cut
etc. just like other conversions
and he could have searched and found his answer

this is going to be my last comment on the this thread.
not anyone asked you about the other cars you had and what not. i don't know whether you did this to establish some credibility that you're a tuner, but that has nothing to do with the topic at hand. this can be honda-tech if you would have just searched more thoroughly. who cares if the del sol had front end damage, fix it.

i mean every thread i try and look at on here is whored up with BS... i mean really we get enough crap as it is driving hondas... i just wanted some decent info from someone who has done the swap... like really in the last 5 years i have owned 15 or so different hondas... im a honda fan and you build a car for what you want it to be, and not for what others think.

God knows i get enough from my subaru driving friends, now all they need to see is a del sol with a civic front, that wont set them off or anything. why are u even doing this? why did u get a del sol just to put a plain jane civic front end on it? you bought a del sol, which is much rarer than a civic, looks a shitload more exotic and is convertible, just to make it look like the thousands of civics out there? waste of time, waste of money, and waste of a beautiful car. just get a civic...

Thats all I did for him.
I know nothing of front end conversions, nor do I personally like them. I just searched in archived threads in the civic/del sol forum "front conversion" and posted the results. Really not difficult, yanno?

That white one is local here, and I see it all the time. It's a pile of **** and the conversion looks like *** in real life. Hell it doesn't even look good in pictures.

I did one on my Del Sol but with a 92-95 civic. I thinks it looks nicer because a Del Sol is a rounded car like a 92-95 Civic unlike the harsher lines of a 96-00 Civic.
I needed a core support, hood, headlights, bumper, cornerlights and your oem fenders with the Civic fenders. Everything is just a bolt on except the fenders. You will need to cut the Del Sol fenders endeds by the door and weld the piece to the Civic fenders!!!! You can do it the other way around also. Cut and make out the hole for the Civic lights on the Del Sol fenders. That was the hardest part. I like it a lot, makes your car standout and different from all the others.
If you have never done body work, I would not recomend it.

then the hood you have must no bolt on any 96-00 civic either.
