Default Measuring O2 sensor voltage...

I have a 1-wire O2 sensor im trying to check. I know that volt range is between .1-.9 volts. What I need to know is how do I hook up a volt-meter to check it???

get a volt meter (digital) and hook the black lead upto hte chassis or engine block and attach the red lead to the wire coming off the sensor...

voltage should be between 0.4xx - 0.6xx at idle
a little below 0.500 is perfect.

um, in closed loop?!?!?

i think not,

the voltage should swing from rich to lean at idle once the ECU is in closed loop.

with the AVERAGE voltage being around 0.5v

Directly from the manual. "Warm engine to operating tempature. Unplug O2 sensor. Hook + lead to O2 and - lead to body ground. Hold engine at 4000 RPM for 30 seconds. Voltage should be .6v. Allow engine to idle. Voltage should have dropped below .4v when returning to idle."

ive been runnig the o2 code since ive gotten my zc...ive tried everything to fix it..

anywayz my sensor reads .6v at 4k rpm but it takes like 2 minutes to go back down to like .49v

i think this is why im throwing the code...can someone tell my wats goin on..

Ok...I grounded the - probe, and put the + probe on the O2 Sensor wire...started up the car, waited a while, and nothings moving on the voltmeter...any ideas?

are you using a digital volt meter?

have you waited 10 minutes for the O2 sensor to heat up to operating temprature?

Do I have to use a digital volt meter?
