5W-20 vs. 10W-40 motor oil...
My sister just got an oil change at some bullshit lube place by her school and instead of putting the same 5W-20 that i put in last time, they put in 10W-40. Will this cause any major changes or damage or is it better for the motor? I usually run the 10W-40 for my mom's camry, but i wasnt sure if it was ok the D17 so i used the 5W-20 like the manual suggested. Should i be worried??
EDIT: Car in question is a 2002 Civic LX

My brother is a car Mechanic and he said putting 5w20 is like putting water in your engine. He don't recommend it unless you want some major repairs down the road. I have a 2002 Honda CRV with 150,000 miles and I've been using 10w40 in the summer and 10w30 in the winter (I live in the Chicago area), and I have not had any problems with my engine.

Nothin will happen if u use 10w-40 just going feel car lil heavier but I don't think you will have mechanical problems. And about 5w-20 it is to thin if ur car is jus a daily I'd use something in between those two...
