I just replaced mine and it's 1.8 quarts. I bought 3 on the advice of the guys that worked at the parts place but I took one back since I didn't need it.

Also, there is no stick to check the manual transmission fluid level, you fill it until it's up to the level of the filling hole. Be sure to have the car level when filling.

Well Honda recommends (for 5spd) a seemingly long time between tranny fluid changes...10 years or 192,000 km (~ 120,000 mi) under "normal" conditions. For "severe" conditions they recommend half of that. I've had my EX for 5 years and I just replaced it for the first time. The fluid I took out didn't look too bad.

Depending on how and where you drive you may want to adjust that interval accordingly, but I think every 4-5 years is reasonable if you're using the specified MTL fluid (not engine oil).

So how are you guys filling it back up on level ground? Are you actually crawling under, or are you using a long tube? I guess you'd still need to crawl under it to close it back up... I'm 6'7'' 300 pounds

The Owner's Manual says:
Capacity (including differential): 1.6 quarts - a tad extra (.2 qt) probably won't hurt it any.

To fill mine on level ground, I made this contraption. Parts needed: One gutted ballpoint pen with a slant-cut tip, one bendy straw, one MTF bottle cap.

Make a hole in the cap just big enough for the straw to pass through, the empty pen will slip over the straw and telescope to reach the bottom of the bottle. Put the tip of the straw in the transmission fill hole, squeeze bottle until empty, change cap to new bottle, repeat until trans is full. Voila.

some gear oils come with a tapered cap that can be attached to a hose....i usually save the spare caps because some oils don't come with that...the tapered cap usually fits on most 1L oil bottles...

I guess everyone is too lazy to remove the bolt that holds in the VSS and fill it that way?

How is removing the fill plug, which is inches from the drain plug, the "lazy" way of filling the manual transmission with new fluid? Diff'rent strokes, I guess.
