Sup guys!

I am replacing my car battery on my 96 Accord EX (HEAR ME OUT FIRST, Don't press back because its a different year)

Here are my questions
-Does the battery size HAVE match my OEM battery size? Like using a size 35 instead of a 24F

-Are all battery post(the connections) the same size? Not smaller?

you don't have to run the stock 24f, you just need to make sure that the replacement battery has enough power and that the terminals are on the correct side of the battery. i am running an optima red top, i believe that the size is a dt34, i have had it for over 4 years now and no problems at all. optima batteries are a little pricey, but they are well worth the extra money. hope this helps.

Thats SpankyG... I would totally love to get an Optima, but I have a very low budget... I know they are really good and maintenance free. I'm going to Costco to get their battery... They don't have Size 24F... Any others in my range? Their size 35 doesn't cut it for the Accord.

BTW, what it the OEM Specs for 96 Accord? The Cranking Amps and Cold Cranking Amps?
Not sure if this affects it, its an EX model(VTEC)

I am now only worried about the CCA and CA. Does anyone know the OEM specs? in CCA and CA?

np. me and my friend installed a 35 on accident for the battery. when i took it to the mechanic, he told me that it was pretty dangerous to get a big battery and mount it like that... told me 25 was the correct fitament for mines and replaced the battery.

Really!!! I looked at the handbook at Costco, Kragen and Pepboys, 94-97 Honda Accord group size 24F. Not 25. Imma check 25 out, maybe I'll do that for my car. Thanks for the suggestion

if your looking cheap I got one at walmart for a fast replacment for less then 22 with tax. Im not sure what size it is ill find out in the morning. Its a everstart and its small ...a little larger then a tractor batt, but it does the job. It was supposed to be temp, but i got lazy a kept it, so far i had it for a year and 6 months.

In Florida, we don't need many cold cranking amps, so you can use a smaller, lighter battery. If I wanted a battery to last longer, I would buy a batt that was supposed to go on the deluxe model car with all the accessories.........that way you get the max cold cranking amps and more longivity.

With alternators, I ask for the heavy duty one that would have gone on the deluxe model car with all the accessories.........they don't wear out as quick.-Bob

Thanks guys. It makes sense that I don't have to get a high CCA rating. If I only kept the OEM battery!

for CCA's I'd go anywhere from 600/650and up, the higher the better really, but if you're not dealing with any harsh cold weather starts you should be fine. I think I've got an 850CCA battery in my car right now, but im also in canada so its not uncommon to have a little harsher starts than you -30C/-20F temperatures arent gonna happen where u are, haha

For the Sears Diehard it lists the size 35 as an alternate size for a 96 Accord. Are you sure 35 will not work? Walmart has some for like $50. If you want more information about choosing batteries, these links might be helpful.

well just make sure it doesn't change to far. I saw a 98 neon that had a side mount instead of the top mount it should of had and it fried the engien wireing harness. But that could just be because it was a peice of sh*t neon.

All righty I'll try size 35... The size 35 from Costco has the CCA as like 550... But i'll sway out my parents Accord battery (35) with mine I'll let you guys know if there's a problem. Man if Honda put the batter towards the back of the engine bay. Hood line is pretty low

Sup guys. For some odd reason the post on the 35 doesnt fit the car. too loose. Anyways, I saw the value and traded in for a new one from Kragen. 24F 1 yr free replace and 84 months warranty. Good enough.

Lesson: If you buy something with warranty. Keep your receipt. Those people at Kragen said you didn't buy any size 24F. HAVE PROOF!
