key won't come out of the ignition
guys first off i have a 1990 honda accord dx with an automatic tranny. about 2 weeks ago i had a stereo system put it in my car, not only that but since then the weather has been terribly cold. i notice that my key will not come out of the ignition when i'm ready to get out of my car. there is no problem putting the key in and the car starts just fine.... also if i leave my key in the ignition for about 5-10 minutes and then try to take it out it come out just fine? any one ever have this problem? what could be the problem?

hmm, sounds almost like the car is thinking that its not in park, which would make the keys unable to come out. Is the key shutting off fine, just not pulling out of the ignition? or do you even have trouble shutting the car off?

No thats not the problem, I have a 92 M/T and same thing happens to me a few times. You jut gotta play around with it when that happens, like turning it more, pushing it in, etc. I'm not sure what causes that.

If it's an issue with the park switch the "P" light on the dash wont be on when the problem is acting up.

Simple movment of the shifter in park does it, happens in my 1993 auto all the time. That and the drivers door lock key hole has not worked in a couple years. Sucks walking around to the other side, but its an excuse to open a chicks door first, and then see if shes the one

Re: (CBL9)
happened to my 95lx 2 weeks ago, i panicked ... turned out the steering wheel was locked, it was just being stubborn and wouldn't unlock. i blame it on the 0 degree weather we were having and the fact that i was parked at 10,000 feet

my mom's 98 honda accord transmission was replaced and the next day she was unable to turn the key off and sometimes unable to shift in or out of park. Could this be related to the new transmission being installed? Does this affect the shifter cable or the shift interlock switch?
