my SRS light came on like this twice. once when I left the sunroof open and rain soaked the set and fryed the sensors.Next time, I took out the passenger seat to see how a 32lb weight reduction would feel.

the ecu needs to be reset by a dealer or someone who can operate a scanner. just buy the tech a 12pack of cheap beer for his time

Well, first, what you fail to realize, is that that method to reset the SRS light does not work on newer cars like this. And it clearly states it works on 99 and 2000, and some 2001 Civics.

Second, you show your ignorance and lack of intelligence by, while trying to talk bad to someone who was right to begin with, by misspelling "dummer" it is dum B er. So if you are going to scoff and make fun of someone, make sure you don't make yourself look like an idiot when you do it.

Racereaper7:In the event of an Airbag fault light, the SRS system will be disabled, and in the event of an accident, the airbags will NOT deploy.

The solution: The SRS module is trying to tell you there is something wrong with the SRS system.

You need to take the car, preferably to the dealership, to have the SRS module scanned, and the problem fixed. Until you do that, while the light is on, the airbags will NOT work.

This guys hits it on the head. Except for the face that he said the ECU needed to be reset, but it really is the SRS computer module needed to be reset...

But he had the right idea, and my point is moot, and I digress.

no you still loose. I have a 2002 civic SI and my friend has a 2003 RSX and when we both pulled our front seats out and started the car the SRS light came on. THAT LINK POSTED will work for the newer cars. IGNORANCE once again.

Go look on clubrsx and ephatch.com if your little brain is in doubt. The ECU has nothing to do with the airbags. There is a separate computer for the SRS system and the SRS light is normally because of a seat belt sensor or the plug under the seat has been taken off or knocked around so it is not getting a good connection.

If you would like to continue to argue about it here are the links.

There is also no scanner tool to reset it. If you go to a dealer they will use a plug that has a wire looped and plugs into that yellow connector. They just plug it in and unplug it, just like the process in the link. Don't belive me call and ask how they reset a 02 civic si SRS system

you do realize that Miracle already stated that the SRS module had to be reset and NOT the ECU right? Reading comprehension is obviously not your friend.

p.s. loose is an adjective whereas lose (the correct word that you were trying to use) is a verb. both have completely different meanings although, similar spelling. go to your local college and signup for english 101.

damn flaming hard on this site...

btw, I meant the SRS computer needs to be reset. Still, its cheaper to have someone who has the tools do it for you instead of buying for a one time use

Too bad you failed to realize that hte SRS modules have an internal battery backup.

That will do no good.

Just go to the dealer and get it reset, it's $50.

Also, to prevent it from happening, don't put a cell phone on the seat.

If you don't believe it, put a walkie-talkie on your seat, and start talking on the other walkie-talkie, your SRS will come right now. The moment you stop talking, it will turn off.

I tried this already, cause I didn't believe it when the dealer told me.

i see so many misleading post on this board about air bags not deploying if the srs light is on. so false. i assume this comes from people that haven't been in an accident when their srs light was on. truth of the mater is that your bag will still deploy. the light means there is a fault in the system which doesn't mean that its disabled. how do i know, because my srs light was on and it still deployed when i got in a wreck.

This is true. A guy on clubrsx had his SRS light on for his seats and was involved in an accident. All of his airbags deployed but the ones not connected.

What wire are you talking about?

The one that is located by the fuse box?

1st you need to either buy or make the "SCS Service Connector."

That connector
