What exactly does "in-hg" mean on a boost gauge?

Default What exactly does "in-hg" mean on a boost gauge?

I know it's vaccuum, but I'm wondering what the technical term is for it.

For those who want a bit more info, 2in/hg is close to 1psi, except psi is usually for pressure and in/hg for vacuum, hence the mixed units on gauges. 28in/hg is basicly absolute vacuum, which is why high rpm decel gets close to that.

Looks like science wasn't your best subject.

Pressure can be measured in many ways. BAR, psi, and in-hg.

Inches mercury, "in-hg", is a unit of pressure equal to one inch of mercury rise in a barometer.

say at idle.. when warm 800rpm's what would be a good healty value for a stock gsr boosted 'in-hg'?

Mid 20's in Hg.
