Default offset ? 15x8 wheel on crx

Ok..Im seriously considering buying Work equip 03 in black with 15x8 rims with 2" deep lip.I just wanna know what offset I should get ? The car is a 1991 crx si.
I dont wanna order rims unless I know 100% that it will be ok.
I will be using 195/50 15 tires, so its gonna stretch a bit over the rim.

Right now I have 15x7 et 35 with no problems at all.
Here's some pics of a car with similar style wheels I want in 15x8.

195/50-15 tires - which are the correct 15" size for your car - can't be mounted on 15x8 wheels. They're too wide. You'll need wheels that are 5.5-7.0 inches wide.

says who ? you can stretch them ...

sicc 83 has the wheels (15x8 +13 offset)
+19 offset on my crx will work perfectly, but only +10 and +23 are offered with work equip 03 "0 disc" of the 2" deep lip...

Says all the companies who manufacture the tires.

But go ahead, don't believe me. Just remember, they won't be warrantied and you won't be able to sue the manufacturers if you try mounting them on unapproved rim sizes and you can't mount them or you get a blowout. It's your risk (and there is absolutely ZERO benefit to using wheels that are too wide for the tires)...

Is there such thing as a "bad seal" when it comes to tires or not?

If the tire doesn't seat properly at the bead when it's mounted, then yes, it's possible that there is a bad seal. And this could easily happen when a tire is stretched beyond its design specifications, onto a wheel that is wider than approved by the manufacturer.

i know plenty of vw guys who run 195s on 8 inch wheels no prob. even 205s on 9 inch wheels. it can be done....

to be safe id do 205 50s on the 8 inch wheels, there would still be a bit of stretch.

as for the wheels i think that the 23 offset equips would work but you may have to mess with rolling fenders, as well as ride hieght to get it perfect.

just cause everyone in england and europe, and vw guys rock um that way doesn't mean it's beneficial
why don't you wanna run wider tires. typically more tread width can be a good thing.

and what kind of tires you going to run? spending $1600 plus dollars on rims and running some $40 195/50/15 . seems strange. plus with the rim hanging out so much you are going to be more likely to damage the rims.

195 on an 8" isnt a stretch

Over here we do 195 on a 9.5" now thats a stretch..

Most of the drift boys stretch tyres, if its gonna come off, drifting is where its gonna come off...

195's on an 8" isnt unsafe

Absolutely not true.

So tell me - If his tire breaks the bead and he runs off the road, will YOU be paying for his damages?

But heck, you don't need to believe either one of us. Call up the customer service number for your tire's manufacturer, and ask them what's safe. Also ask them whether their tire warranty is applicable if the tire is mounted on rims wider than stated in their specification of approved rim widths. See what they say, and let us know. Then decide for yourself what to do.

What keeps a car on the road are the tires it rolls on. Tire manufactures would not say it's not safe if they didn't think it was not safe. As posted above, if anything, modify the fender rather than skimping on the tires (if 15x8 is a must).

This doesn't matter if the car is purely for show and will never be driven on the streets, in that case stretch away.

haha

NSXTASY

Stop being a *****

8" is only half an inch wider than the recommend widths for a 195 anyway, they have tolerances

If a tyre is recommended as being 'safe' on an 7.5" rim, you can guaratee that it will be safe on an 8"

Its your opinion thou at the end of the day, but in MY opinion. if a tyre stays on the rim at 120mph sideways, then it will stay on the rim for everyother eventuality

Wrong. Most 195/50-15 tires are recommended only for use on rims 5.5-7.0 inches wide. That's a full inch off.

Stop being so ignorant.

And if the tire doesn't stay on the rim at 120 mph, then you won't be posting here to tell us about it afterwards.

Indeed, it seems to be a VW thing.

http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=2234638

You might find info there. I don't recommend you do somethign that is not recommended by the manufacturer but read that, you might learn something.

Cheers.
