Re: (VAsol)
looks fake to me, the newer turbonetics turbos say TURBONETICS in red across the compressor. The old ones said it with embossed letters in the same polish. Other models have a badge next to the vacuum fitting. whats everyone else think?

Re: (Turbo Neon)
My brand new Turbonetics 60-1 does not have it in red letters, just the polishing, I also have the gold Compressor Backplat. I am not going to say its fake, but it does look suspicious, it does not look VR balanced, they leave a red bead of whatever it is on the compressor wheel to show that its been balanced, that exhaust housing looks legit but the compressor is shady.....
EDIT: what I see on his Compressor wheel is just red paint, what they use is like a glue. And that looks like either an old Turbonetics backplate or a Garrett, my old Garrett T3/T4 had that same backplate.

that "vaned" heat sink backplate is almost a dead give away of a fake turbonetics turbo, turbonetics turbo backplates are CNC'd, and come in gold, blue, and polished. also they almost 9 times out of 10 come with BLACK plastic caps, clear blue

Mine had the CNC'd Gold Compressor Cover and came with black caps, those look like SS Auto Blue Caps I would definately call Turbonetics about it, also mine came with a sticker that had its Serial # on it

Re: (96 GSR-T)
i have seen some T3's on ebay that were part turbonetics and part garrett...the compressor was a turbonetics but the center and turbine was garrett...i wouldnt think there would be to much a problem there ? both are reputable?

Re: (ex94vtec)
ugh...
ok.... all the parts that garrett has made get qc'd... if they dont get qc'd they get tossed... or sold, ssac just happens to buy them... whatever.
garrett makes better parts than turbonetics IMO. turbonetics technology is WAAY outdated...
ITS A ******* KNOCKOFF TURBO... think of it as a bling'd up ssac

Re: (ex94vtec)
i saw one dude on egay trying to sell a blatantly obvious ssac/xspower turbo for 900 bucks... and he had 50 of them.
a dead giveaway is the turbine wheel and those ugly blue covers
