Default 1000cc R1 motor in banshee, sand rail, or go-kart?

I have a really good deal on a complete R1 motor, and I was wondering if I could put this in a banshee, sand rail, or a go-kart without too many huge mods. I work at a steel shop so custom fab wouldnt be a problem, so what would you guys do?

You bet I will. I am leaning towards a really wide, caged go-kart, just for safetys sake, I just wonder what I am going to do for tires lol.

really wide stance gokart would be sweet as for tires just get some small atv rims/tires... you know the really wide ones

speaking of raptors what do those things sell for? those look like fun.

try to find some info on darius240z.com i think. Darius frequents sbfreaks.com and stuntlife.com. He put a bike motor in a custom built go cart, ive seen videos of it...pretty bad ***. He builds cars, bikes, etc... for a hobby i think. He could probably definalty help you out with any of the missing links in your puzzle.

call up some local colleges ask if you could buy the chassis from a used FSAE car. That would be sweeeet

My dream. A low, wide tube frame go kart powered by liter+ bike engine.
Super-low ground clearance, F1 car exhaust sound, sequential shifting, ridiculous handling and acceleration = awesome.

Where would you ride the kart at? Do you have big huge empty parking lots you can take advantage of? That would be so much fun.

i say the 4 wheeler. it will be too heavy and way too much power for the go kart. there is a video somewhere around here of some guys in europe with a GSXR 750 motor on a gokart and it was cool and all but they rarely got out of 3rd. just too fast and never had traction. it looked fun as **** and it was always sidways but too impractical. i know that is hard to fathom but the problem with the 750 would be multiplied with the 1000.

when i was is HS my dad and a few friends built a 4 wheeler with a 1000 3 cyl from a new arctic cat snowmobile. that **** was sickeningly fast and it wanted to do wheelies all the time and that was with the rear suspension being extended over a foot.

the go kart would be fun but just too damn unusable. the 4 wheeler can be taken places and used to dust everyone. out to the sand dunes, drag strips, people on your block. anything.

I am really thinking on making a banshee, because then I will have a pit vehicle at the track.

The power will not be managable in a banshee, or any other 4wheeler. my yzf 450 i cant even keep the front end down in 3rd gear, and that has 1/4 the hp of a 1000cc gixxer motor.

Championship karts use 125cc engines.. 1000cc is straight red neck. Go for it.

Schools build/design these every year, im sure you could find a used chassis for cheap, assuming its not carbon fiber or anything.

Also they are designed to use 600cc motors so im sure it wouldnt be hard to fit an 1000 in there.

I think in a 4-wheeler you would kill yourself real quick, just imagine turning right or left some what fast, i'm willing to bet it would be fairly easy to flip it.

However, without exstensive engineering or knowledge id imagine it would be real easy to get yourself in troulbe with whatever vehicle you choose to build!

Goodluck

For the FSAE thing...

While I have seen a couple cars on Ebay and other places, it's very rare. Many schools, including mine, are required by insurance to destroy old vehicles to an irrepairable state. Of the rest, it's customary to give the cars to old team captains from landmark years.

Also, for the cheap part, FSAE cars cost 20k+ to build.

Some good info right there, i was unaware they were not aloud to sell, i guess i figured it would be a good way to finance the next years car.

Id firgured a complete car would cost this much , how much for just a chassis/suspension, basically just a rolling chassis?

Do you think an FSAE team would ever build a car for an individual? haha I wouldn't mind paying for a rolling chassis and put an unrestricted motor in.

Do any of you guys know of any good magazines or websites where I could look at banshee frames and learn a little more about them so I can decide if this is the optimal route for me, thanks.
