GSR Build - Piston to valve clearance?
I did some research, and I know that to ultimately find the correct clearances I'm going to have to clay the motor. But before I do that, I was just wondering if +/-2 degrees on the cam gears is enough to play with?
The setup is as follows:
B18C1
Head milled .030
Blox Type B's - Valve lash .008-in. .009-ex.
PR3 pistons
Stock headgasket
What kind of numbers am I supposed to be aiming for as well? I believe I read that .060 is the minimum clearance? I'd appreciate any help at all.

Well, I'm gonna clay the motor tommorow using +/- 4 degrees for adjustment. I don't think the gears will be turned anymore than that when it gets tuned this weekend. I'll be sure to post up the results tommorow night.

what we need to do is start a list of people who have clayed motors...have them list out there motor specs and any machiene work...and list out the clearances they find from claying...if we got enough data we could start to see what kind of clearance we have in other similar setups

Re: GSR Build - Piston to valve clearance? (paopao)
Finally finished claying the motor. Results were as follows:
Quench pads - .050
Intake valves - .050
Exhaust valves - .050
This was with the cam gears set at -5 degrees on the exhaust, and +5 on the intake.
I was surprised that the values were the same for everything, but that's how it came out. Setup is listed above, hope this will be able to help some people with similar setups.
