Re: f20b (JakeIsCool)
well i want to do something different. f20b is 200hp, 145 tq. h22 just has more torque, but weighs more (i think). and yea h22 has more aftermarket support, but thats because everyone and their mother has an h22. or a b series so. thus i choose f20b.

Re: f20b (momstaxi)
F20B is nearly IDENTICAL to the H22. same weight, but higher horsepower, and less torque. I forget the figures, but If you can put an H22 into a CD Accord, then you can put in a F20B. the main swap issue to remember is that all F20Bs were OBD2.
The F20B was made for the 6th gen Accords, so Honda had a valid contender in the Touring Class in road racing, where the engine size is limited to 2.0 liters, where the H22 is oversized. All Honda did was use a H22A-TypeS motor, de-stroke it, and put it in the Accord. same bore, but I'm not sure about compression ratio, but I know it's higher than the JDM H22A's 10.6-1. same TypeS cams, too.

no, the frm sleeves help with keeping heat down. weight could have been part of it but i highly doubt it.

wiring is a headache..
it was 4mnths cause i worked on it every other weekend.
but it worth all worth it..
the only prob i have now is a stuck IACV needs to replaced.
ive gone through 2 ecu already P05, P13, and now i have a chipped P28

I hear you on wiring. I'm still not that keen on wiring jobs....although I do feel like I love lights....I'm thinking of fabbing a removable light pod (and I don't really know exactly why...)

I have that same problem. My rpm's in idle-especially while still cold-lob between 1,000 to 2,000rpm

Re: f20b (CD7-F20B)
the f20b, h22a, and h23 all use the exact same block...the internals/bore on the sleeves may be slightly different, but you will end up putting an f20b into a 5th gen accord the exact same way as you would put an h22 in...same method, same wiring, same modifications to the wiring and driverside engine mount...
also, that tourque you speak of is much needed in the heavy, fat *** accord...sure it has more hp (5 more than the h22 which you will most likely not even feel), but realize that the hp rating is taken from the lofty 8000 rpm area...the tq rating is also taken from right around the vtec engagement, but you need to look at the power production down low and across the entire rpm range between the two motors...having a motor with a little extra tourque in the low rpm's will make daily driving much nicer and responsive...good luck if you wish to do this, but realize that an h22 could be purchased for much less and modified with the extr money you are putting out for the f20b...and if you are going to moderately modify the f20b anyways, then it's utterly pointless to use it as a platform anyways...

Re: f20b (Nick H)
I completely agree. While there is something to be said for being different (and it certainly is a noble goal), you are going to get a lot better results for your money using the H as your base. The difference in price in the two motors could get you a nice start on building your H for turbo

Re: f20b (propwdialogue)
the f20b has a 85mm bore as apposed to a 87mm bore in a h22a, and the stroke is 1mm shorter.
also has iron sleeves not frm, 11:1 compression, rods are stronger then alot of aftermarket ones for h22a, and the bottom end has very tight tolerances, wicked r/s ratio. it revs like crazy with the right tiuning and mods. much better base the h22a especially if you are not planning on internal mods.
Yes the h22a has more potential but the f20b is much more fun to drive with once you have done a few bolt ons, mugen made 300whp with their f20b in the BTCC.
Also f20b throttle body is 2mm bigger then h22a. all parts are interchangerble with h22a parts except for internal block components and valves, this includes cams manifolds etc.
my JDM accord SiR-T (what the f20b comes from) can drill a cd6 SiR accord with a mildly modded h22a
do you guys have cd6 accords in the states?

no, accord was never offered with a DOHC motor in the states untill the K24 in the 7th gen accord....
from what ive read, a modded F20b>H22a...but stock for stock, the added torque of the H22a gives it a slight advantage

couldnt you just get a ps bracket off a 97 lude and used that on the f20 b with f22 ps pump lines etc... kind of like the h22 swap only thing needed is the bracket.
