ABS Code 53: Motor stuck on ?!???!??!?!?
a customer's car was at the shop today, and I was fixing some CEL's...and decided to check the abs stuff. I got code 53: Motor stuck on.
um....yeah....huh?
what can be done about this? is it going to require a new ABS unit, or is there anyway around that?
i searched, nothing came up

that sounds more like a bad computer than a bad pump....but i honestly am not too familiar with the fixing of that thing, most people just take the bioch out when it goes bad....
if you need to get him a unit or a computer, i can get you both/either for pretty cheap....let me know if you do....

Re: (mgags7)
check the abs fluid level. if it is low then the abs motor has over run and burnt out, hence the stuck on description. the plugs leak themselves on the bottom side of the abs modulator. replacement of the modulator is necessary to repair. i happen to have one for sale because i removed my abs a couple of years ago for weight savings. my abs system was properly maintained and never leaked. i changed the fluid every 15k. New parts to fix this will be over 1000 dollars just for the modulator assem. w/ motor.
Also to check the motors power jump the abs relay in the abs fuse box under the hood. it is the big gold relay and you will jump the two large prongs in the fuse box for that relay ( four total). the motor should run. if the motor does not run or is very weak sounding, which i anticipate it to be then the repair i suggested is necessary.
