Someone on another thread mentioned something about the existance of a master Honda Key? One key that will open the doors, and start any Honda car...

Does this product really exist? Does anyone have real proof? A pic? A part number?

Unless by saying "Master Key" the d00d meant a screwdriver and a crowbar.....I, for one, doubt there is such a thing.

Here's why....

1. In order to have 2 differently ground keys work in a single door lock you would have to have 2 different sets of tumblers in the locking mechanism. One for the key that came with the car, and one for the master key. Now I haven't seen the inside of a Honda door lock, but I highly doubt Honda would spend the $$ putting locks in our cars that are more expensive or complicated than absolutely needed for safe, reliable operation.

2. The chipped keys only can hold one code at a time. If there was a master key, it would have to be able to tell what code the ecu is looking for, then broadcast it. Seems highly unlikely that Honda would spend the time and energy developing such a thing, when a dealer can just have a normal key ground by knowing your VIN.


Anyone else have an opinion on this?

no, a honda master key. and yes, this key would have to be more than just a key, ...very sophisticated in the sense of rolling imobilizer codes, and it would take quite a bit of time to find the proper code.

i do not believe such a key exists for those cars with immobilizers.

I don't know if it's real either, but a little while ago, there was dozens of acuras being stolen (I have no idea what model) here in Trenton, NJ. They reported in the papers that the cars were being stolen with master keys. Fast forward a few years, a girl who works at my job just got out of juvenile detention for stealing cars, and she says she had this magical acura master key. I wasn't involved in the conversation, I just happened to hear her. On a different note, my friends bro is trying to start a re-po/towing company, and he has a catalog just for repo's completely full of devices made for getting into any car with no damage. There's tools that snap right through clubs, kinda using the same concept as a pipe cutter. Pretty scary stuff. What's even scarier is the fact that at his old towing job, he had to help out a guy in a diablo (ys, a lamborghini) and he said it was the easiest car to get into without a key. Well, sorry for the rambling. . .

Nope...not stealing R's....I've never even stolen a pack of chewing gum before....and I have my own ITR, thanks.

And I think newgsrdriver can vouch for me if you doubt my integrity....

I think some people are just a little tooo worried about their cars disappearing....and if we can dispell any rumors for how our cars get taken, that will be one less thing we have to worry about when we sleep at night

the key doesn't exist and btw the imobilizer is easily jumped by a seqence (sp) code.

Im sure somethign liek this exists... Know why? Becasue why woudl Repo comapnies want to damage vehicles... I know GM has one... Its SUPPOSED to be used by Repomen and returned to the company after its been used. This prevents damage to the vehicle so the bank can resell it with no overhead cost of fixing the lock. The key is supposed to be uncopyable. I dont know if this works or not...

But I wouldnt doubt the existance of a master key or master key index on file for repo depots...

ECU doesnt look for any signal but the one from the immobilizer box.
The immobilizer box is the one that looks at the key. Its possible that the
box can have more than one signature to look for before it till tell the ecu
to open the injectors.

B-Diddy.....How do you know there is one for GM cars? Have you seen it?

Repo companies usually just tow cars away. Then once the cr is in the hands of the bank, they go about getting a key copied, just as anyone else would....by going to the dealer and asking for one....There was a show on Discovery Channel that follwed repo guys around, that kinda showed this process....

Professional car thieves have "a master key" its not really a master key, but it works the same way. I could explain but i dont want to help future thefts. I recently spoke with a "pro" from NY he explained it all, cars are soooo easy to steal. The only think that sounds like good prevention is that wheel lock, 4 would be nice

Many car manafactures have a master 'set'. Anywhere from 20 to 200 keys. One will open the door.
I doubt honda is any different. The only question is, how many keys make up their set. Also, I think the imbolizer(assuming it hasn't been disabled), should make a simple master set not very useful.

i have seen a "master" lock pick set from snap on that is sold to mechanics only, guess what? it works.....i once lost my keys and had to call AAA and i was looking at what he was using, took him about minute and a half.

another time that i locked my keys in the car it took a locksmith about 10 seconds! said it takes years of experience, scary!

I was just searching the net, and I did see the 'master key'. Only $30.00 This one only works for 92-97 hondas though.
I also saw what appears to be the code book for transponder keys. $300.00

You guys ever watch the documentary "Repossessers."(sp) They go around filming repo men taking back property. This one company in Miami had some Repo guy that could break in and steal cars within seconds. Very amazing and scary at the same time. I dont know if it was a 'master key,' but he had a tool that basically made an alternative key to work. These repo guys were taking cars, airplanes, rv's, semi trucks, etc..

There is an immobilizer bypass jumper available for service use.
Also, you can get the vehicle brake code by having your dealership to a VIN status inquiry. A brake code is a sequence of times you press the brake and turn the car in the on position then back off. It basically kills the immobilizer for a little while.
