DISABLE door chime!
ludemandan's roommate here. i bought the car, i want to disable the door chime. on my 88 jetta it was easy, just pull a relay, it looks like its gonna be harder on this one. any ideas? hopefully it will be the same for dan's 4'th gen prelude right? i'm also swapping out the stock stereo today if anyone cares.

Correct me if I am wrong... I thought Hondas didn't have door chimes. The only chimes i am familiar with are the haedlights left ona nd the key in the ignition.

There are two chimes. One is when lights are on and door is open while key is out. The other is door is open while key in the accessory position. I'd like to remove this one.

Technically, there is no chime for the door alone. If the door opens, it chimes in conjunction with the key in the assessory position and/or if you have left your headlights on (which we have establish).
So, this may not be as accessable as an '88 Jetta

yes, there are several different chimes that happen at differents times. the one that i most want to disable is the key warning. i always chill in my car with the stereo on and the door open. if its not amazingly difficult i want to disable both of them, but i'll take what i can get. any more knowledge? thanx guys!

Doesn't a car alarm rely on the light circuit to be open to "sense" when the door is opened? Wouldn't disabling the switch that does that kill the alarm?

just get a service manual for the car and look at the wiring diagrams...should be as easy as splicing one wire into another so that the circuit doesn't make it to the ignition switch

Dude, when I want to chill with the stereo playing and the door open i just jam a toothpick into the door sensor switch to make it think the door is closed

hey man i feel your pain, its hot as a **** in miami!!!!! i had a similar problem with my seatbelt chime. it kept going off until one day it drove me crazy, i disconnected the small computer under the pass seat. pry open the computer and you will see a little black cylinder on the board that says TDK. personally, took a screwdriver to it on my jalopi and ive been very satisfied. i know thats not exactly what you want but maybe itll help

There is a very easy way to do this, although it turns off the dome and door lights
to. Go into the fuse box diagram and find the fuse labeled 7.5 A Interior light and pull it out. The door chim is also wired on this circut. This worked perfectly on my 94 accord.
