Can JB weld handle exhaust heat?
im thinking about plugging up an open bolt hole on my DP with JB weld to stop the damn exhaust leak through it... but someone told me they didn't think it could handle the heat, if thats true, that means ive gotta take off the dp, weld the hole closed, and then re-surface the flange

JB weld is good up to about 600deg.........i think your pipe right at the turbo flange will get much hotter than that.........

then you did something wrong.
had a friend who ran around for the better part of a year with nothing but jb weld holding his exhaust pipe to his exhaust manifold. I was helping him change spark plugs and saw that crap on there and we finally figured out that the muffler shop broke the manifold bolts off inside the manifold and then apparently just held the two together and put a HUGE glob of jb around to hold everything together lol!
needless to say, he was pissed and made them replace the manifold and all

jb weld doesn't fair too well against heat. they sell an exhaust patching kit at the auto parts store. just buy that for at temporary fix if you can't find a bolt to fit.

well i dont think there is any physical way to get a bolt in this hole without making a whole new DP (the pipe comes right up against the side of the hole, theres no clearance for the head of a bolt) so i guess i gotta weld it.

I will tell you from experience as soon as the car gets up to temp it will boil right off.
Been there tried it in a pinch
if its a bolt hole, put a bolt thru it. or a plug

Re: (blundar)
weld it.
I had my stock Y8 manifold welded with some stainless rod and it wasn't a problem after that. Do it right, JB weld will just be a problem again soon.
