Need advice: My car is stuttering on acceleration.
Firstly, I used the search function, and found a few topics that were similair to this one, but I would feel better if I could post my problem specifically.
I have a problem with my 1991 CRXsi.
On warm days (25-30 degrees C) the car “stutters” and hesitates when I accelerate. This usually happens up to 2000rpm or so. When I press the accelerator pedal, the car starts “burping” and stuttering, and shaking slightly when it’s trying to get up to speed. Once I get up to 2200rpm (or so) everything evens out and the car sounds fine. But of course, when I come to a stop sign, and I have to speed up again the problem happens again.
It seems to be worse on warm days then it is on cool days.
When the car idles, it sorts of shakes a bit.
I replaced the plugs 2 weeks ago, so that’s not the problem.
The wires were replaced with NGK wires about 5 years ago. (Though I am not say its defiantly NOT the wires, all I am saying is that they are relatively new)
Anybody here have any ideas about what could be wrong?

I'd replace the wires, check the rotor cap and button to make sure they are good. Pull one of your plugs and check its condition anyway.

Ok. I haven't actually got around to pulling the plugs again. But here's a question. If I have faulty/defective wire(s) would that cause the plug(s) to burn out? Like I said, I replaced all the plugs 3 weeks ago, so I know they are new. But it seems like one of them might be burnt out again.
It was really hot outside today, and my cay was stuttering/hesitating BIG TIME. Any accellerating, or going from stop to moving caused the car to shake and stutter quite baddly. After I get past 2500rpm it evens out.

Oxygen - Fuel - Spark, the 3 things that must be there to create combustion, beyond that it's just tuning/timing of each.
Check your distributor (replace it and see if it still happens)
All the wires do is deliver power, they either don't deliver enough voltage/amperage or they do... They can't damage anything.

Re: (Cryptopsy)
i had the same problem with my CRX about a month ago. I took it to a guy i heard was doing side work, and he said i need to do a tune up.
So i bought plugs and wires, the wires fixed it.
either way it wouldn't hurt to have a newer set of wires

yea, i was having this problem recently too. i changed fuel filter, replaced dizzy cap and checked timing and it was still there. got new plugs and wires and it fixed it, plus the plugs that came out were only a few months old and looked perfectly fine so i know it was the wires.

To be honest, check your ECU to see if you are throwing any codes. After that, if you dont see anything, I would say that it sounds like your injectors. My car started doing this same thing about a week or 2 ago. I put injector cleaner in it and replaced them...BOOM, Problem solved. The only reason I think it is your injectors, is because at about 2000 rpm's was about when mine would bullshit with me also, and the symptoms sound the same. Hope this helps.

Thanks guys. Yes, like Mr Valentino said...I guess it would not hurt to have some new wires. So I will get some new wires and go from there. If there is still a problem, I will take a look at the distributor and then work my way down the list of other potential problems.
