Could a bad alternator cause bogging or poor/insufficient spark?
Question, could a bad alternator cause a poor/insufficient spark under half to full acceleration which results in bogging?

I went thru a few alternators when my downpipe was cracked, and my car would run fine all the way down to between 10 and 9 volts on the turbo timer. All of the dash lights and headlights would go out before the car would quit running.

Hey Keith,
I had the same exact question for my 240SX. My battery light would light up a little too. I changed the alternator and it DID NOT fix the problem. My bogging is caused by another problem. If I get on the gas more than 25% of full throttle, the car bogs...bad.
On my Prelude, I accidently unplugged my alternator plug when i was adjusting my accessory belts. The car ran off the battery for 2 days. When the battery finally started to die, the car bogged pretty bad. But that only happened for less than a minute until the battery died. Before the battery died, the car ran fine.
At idle, if you try to rev up the car, does it bog then too?? I am trying to figure out my problem on my 240SX still. I think a few of the valves are bad because I've tried changing MANY different parts.
Anyway, if you need an alternator, let me know. I have one for sale. It's from a 4th Gen.

Replaced the alternator... started her up and there was a bit of bogging at first... but I think it was the left over fuel (flooded) from the WOT test I was doing before on the bad alternator. So far so good
