Default D15B1 vs. D15B2

What are the differences in the B1 vs. the B2 for one to have 70hp, and the other to have 92hp? Also, do both Dual Point FI cars (STD and DX) have the same ECU (PM5)? Thanks.

the b1 has a terrible cam, a turbo like header with a cat right off of it and bad exhaust.

Bump.
So if I change the ECU, cam, and put a DX 5-speed on, how much of a performance difference are we looking at?

also on the b1s when you floor it the throttle body butterfly only opens 1/2 to almost 3/4's of the way while the b2 it will open all the way

the 90-91 had a normal cat and the 88-89 had the header/cat thing.

if you put a new cam, header, exhaust and i guess do something with the tb like that guy just said you can make it into a b2.

why do you need a dx tranny? its not all that special... if you want a good one find an si tranny.

even a dx tranny beats the STD one but i'll admit i loved my long gears short *** B16 tranny not long at all lol

best bets for a b1 are swap head and tranny or whole damned thing

even with MPFI the cam holds you back alot.

Could he not put a si cam in it? I was going to try it. Could it work? I have a D15B non-vtec (no number) in my 91.

I'm not trying to be an ******* or anything, but why the hell would you even boter wasting the time on that slow **** when you can just get a zc and a dx tranny? but for the info, dx has 16v head, different ecu, intake manifold/wiring (mp vs. dp), tranny. If you want, i can sell you my stuff.

I don't know what the numbers b1 or b2 are,
BUT...

hf is 2 valves per cylinder, multi port(higher compression, too, no joke)

dx is 4 valves per cylinder, dual port

si is 4 valves per cylinder, multi port

si trans shortest gears, then dx, then hf is a distant 3rd.

someone else can inform you about the civics; i have no first-hand experience.

the guy who said don't waste your time was right. You can't make any real difference in performance with these parts. Get a jdm dual cam zc or a single cam vtec, otherwise all you've got is a commuter car.

90-91 hf/dx both came with a D15B2 and some people dont want to change the motor out to gain hp. Some people like to keep it real. i give props to whoever want to to gain out of the factory D-series. i have a friend that works a (Year One) that has a 89si with 186 hp at the wheels out of a D16A6 no nos/turbo/sc all motor

there are better ways, even on a budget, if you shop around you can get a d16a6 for dirt cheap(100-150), that will be way better than trying to make a d15b1 into a d15b2.....

if you do the MPFI swap doesn't that replace the throttle body therefore fixing the 1/2-3/4 opening problem?

And even further then that... it there any way to fix that w/o swapping IMs??

DONT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH IT, swap a sohc vtec or b series, NO point in trying to get performance out of a DPFI. do like i did and throw it in the garbage.

yes if u were to swap to mpfi it would take car of the whole throttle body issue

i sapose if u were to put the DX throttle body on it would fix that problem too but it really would make that huge of a difference if any
