hey i was wondering what all i need to do a rebuild to a D15 engine and how much it would be costing me cause im turnin 15 and i already got the basic stuff done to it (cold air intake, Apexi GT SPEC exhaust...ect) and me and my friend are gonna rebuild it so if youll can help me it would be awesome...Thank you!!

Theres no point in rebuilding a D15. Its a little 1.5L with no torque. If i were you i would swap out that D15 for a B16A or B18C GSR.

considering im 15 and have no job i can just drop down 3 grand for a engine that im gonna have to rebuild neways....

Why do you want to rebuild it? It the motor shot? You don't buy a "$3,000 motor and rebuild it anyways", you just have to replace the usual maintenence parts and call it a day.

First, do you or your friend have any rebuilding experience? Second, go buy a Helms Manual. Everything you need to know about rebuilding your model specific Civic with pictures and instructions.

Are you gonna stay NA or go turbo?

If your going to stay NA i suggest getting the pistons from a d16a6 (someone correct me of im wrong here), which will raise your compression ratio. Its not to hard to rebuild an engine, with a helms manual of course. Get your head/block hot tanked after stripping it down. You can by gasket kits to replace all the gasket and seals, and then its just going down a check list of things you could replace. Rod bearings, main bearings, valves, spark plugs, oil pump, water pump....the list goes on. If you got a lot of miles on your engine, or if the inside of your cylynders are scored, i suggest you get your blocked bored n honed.

Get a helms first, and read threw it, then ask yourself if you can trust yourself doin it. goodluck

buy a jdm d15b(sohc vtec) they are about $700 for engine ecu and trans.

You say your 15 and no job, then how do you expect to do the rebuild. You will have to get everything that 92Dseries said and an engine hoist(that you could rent) not to mention all the radiator and heater hoses that will also have to be replaced(depending how many miles are on it)

since i got a permit...lol...and also the JDM D15B looks hella nice and i may buy it if i get alot more cash but still not sure wat i should do....can sume1 tell me the pros and cons of just rebuilding my engine? and same with the JDM D15B

What's it with you and rebuilding. If the motor is in working condition, there is no need for rebuilding. If you get the D15B, you don't need to rebuild it if it's in working order. Just do a routine maintenence on it by getting OEM spark plugs, ignition wires, fuel filter, thermostat and timing belt. Drain all fluid and top them off. Call it a day and have fun driving your car.

Just because you get a used engine doesn't mean you need to rebuild it. If the motor is shot in regards to blow pistons, bent rods, valvetrain is shot, etc...then that's when you rebuild it. Most used motors come complete and ready to start right up.

Gain some more knowledge of Honda motor, gain some more age since you are very young, THEN sooner or later get around to completely tearing apart a motor and rebuilding it.
