Default What would cause distributor rotor not to spin??

As topic states what would cause it not to spin? I thought my timing belt might have snapped but it's still good. I'm not sure if the timing is off or some teeth were shredded..But wouldn't the rotor still spin when I crank the car? What are some other possiblities? Could my distributor be bad? Has anyone else had this problem?

the "conection" between the distributor and cam is broken either that or the rotor itself is broken

Is the cam turning? Is part of the cam turning? Is the cam pulley turning?

Its been sitting in my garage..I've just been driving my other car. I work to much so i havent had a chance to look at it. All I've done so far is take off the valve cover and distributor.

When the crank turns, it turns the camshaft via a belt. When the camshafts move, the distributor moves as its keyed to the cam. The rotor is keyed to the dizzy shaft, so even if you didn't put the screw in, it should still turn.

Put a rathcet/socket on the crank and turn it; What moves, what doesn't?

Am i suppose to turn the crank clockwise or counter? I was turning it both ways and it would turn a couple rotations and then I couldn't turn it. The crank pulley belt also looks a little worn could that be the problem? What all should I see moving when I turn the crank pulley? Sorry for the noob questions. Any input would be helpful, thanks

take the spark plugs out to make it earier to turn your engine over by hand.

or

Just take off you distributor and take the cap off. Turn the rotor by hand and see if it turns the shaft too.
