Are you referring to the existing dowels? Or a 'homemade' dowel, or commercial version? Link?

Is it possible, to remove the engine and the automatic transmission together, out the top, without disturbing the a/c lines? Is there enough clearance?

Neither the intake or exhaust camshaft part numbers for the 98 are same as the 01. Did I do this right?

If my existing head is repairable, then I'll go that route. But, I am preparing for the probability that the harder valve has damaged the softer aluminum valve seat, beyond repair. I don't have...

LDForget, I really appreciate the reply. Just for clarification, is the cylinder head off a b20b and b20z engine the exact same minus both camshafts?
