The voltage was reading 13.84 - 13.99. It was up and down in this range.

headlights flicker while driving

Hey y'all! When driving at night my headlights seem to flicker. Also my dome and interior lights. I thought maybe it could be a diode in the alternator going bad but it doesn't do it all the time....

Well, it was definitely a head gasket and I had it repaired by a Honda dealer. The head was uneven and needed resurfacing. Makes me wonder did the mechanic the first time really get the head surfaced...

Yep it pretty much sucks! I just didn't want to believe it was another head gasket. Obviously it wasn't done right the first time. Oh well! I just want it running right so I can get back to saving...

Well, I got tired of screwing with it and took it to the Honda dealer. Service manager confirmed a blown head gasket. Should have it back next Monday. So that's two head gaskets in about two or three...

You should be able to connect a can of refrigerant and start charging to satisfy the low pressure switch and then it should come on, that is if low pressure is the problem.

Could be. I'm gonna start tearing it down tomorrow and do it per the Honda service manual except I may use the same head bolts since they are only a couple months old.

Head gasket replaced at 90000 and still acts like it needs another. This generation of Civics are POS!

I'm just about ready to set fire to this pos! I put the cooling system pressure tester with the car at normal temp to see if the pressure builds. Let it run for about 10 minutes and the pressure came...

I tried to a test with lower pressure and got nothing. If I tried to use 100psi it would push the piston down.

Well, I got a pressure tester and pressured up the cooling system. It only dropped 1# all night. Think I may take the hoses loose and and do a flow test through the block and the radiator. This thing...

You're talking about a cooling system pressure check right? That's what I was gonna do today. They rent them for free at Advance Auto. How much should I pressurize it up to?

Not yet. I rigged up my own tester and will do it this weekend. Basically a regulator, a gauge and a needle valve but it will only tell me there's leak if I can hear it.

John - the mechanic is still saying it's not the head gasket and that it still may be a cracked block. He even said he talked to a 22 year honda tech and said even though the block may not be warped...

Get this! I do two more combustion gas tests in the radiator and reservoir and came up negative every time but while I was doing the...
