My daughter's '98 accord is consuming a fair amount of oil.

Changed the oil at 169,300 and used 1.5 qts of Lucas

Car is now up to only 170,100 and already about 1/2 qt down from full mark on...

I rec'd a case of the Honda ATF DW-1 tranny fluid - I suppose it's fine as compared to what' I'd get from the dealer and better than 1/2 price. Drained my '05 accord yesterday(2nd change at 135k..)...

I can't say I wait for the light to come - I pretty much fill up at any point below half a tank when convenient... but as I think about it, I can't recall ever getting 14 gallons or more so I'd say...

Thank you DCFIVER... Sometimes things "just make sense"... old oil/fluids not at all sensible. But with so many people telling me something that doesn't make sense, I started questioning myself....

I know I'm late on this thread but I'm going through a similar situation with a '98 Accord LX - auto trans. Car has 170k miles and we bought at 150k. I was going to drain/replace the Trans fluid...
