Re: why won't it start?

Correction. It turns over but doesn't fire. It just all of a sudden starts, but after a good 30 to 45 seconds of cranking.

Re: why won't it start?

Would the 1500 dollars include the price of the new engine?

Re: why won't it start?

Wouldn't replacing the engine cost more money than the car is worth?

Is there a way to find if the block is warped? That would definitely play into my decision!

Re: why won't it start?

Wouldn't that be way more expensive than just getting the headgasket fixed?

Re: why won't it start?

Hmm...is there a way to find out if that's the problem? And what is the fix for it? Thanks so much for replying!

why won't it start?

I'm in a pickle! Since I bought my 95 accord used (190k miles) about 6 months ago it has struggled to start. It just takes a while before it finally turns over. But it always eventually started....

Re: problems with stick shift

No I haven't. Could that really be all it is? When I'm in 3rd or 4th gear I can move it way to the right, there's a lot of give. Not sure if that's normal.

Re: problems with stick shift

No it doesn't knock, it just starts out really slow and takes a while to get up to 3k rpm. I hate that cuz I'm sure that's really bad for the engine and it also puts me in danger when leaving...

problems with stick shift

I have a 95 honda accord and the stick shift no longer can go into first or second gear, if I go all the way to the left and up it goes into third. For a while I could go into one of the other gears,...

Re: slow acceleration in 95 accord?

Thanks for the responses. My dad wondered if maybe it was tuned up to a stretched belt so now it just needs to be tuned again.

After having driven it a few times it's the low RPM's that have no...

Re: slow acceleration in 95 accord?

I'm not sure I understand what you are saying. You think that a valve might not be sealing?

I was told on hear that if a valve was bent that I'd be able to tell by listening to it, that it would...

slow acceleration in 95 accord?

I have a 1995 Accord and I broke a timing belt a few weeks ago. We looked at the valve clearance and none of them were loose. We adjusted them to where they are supposed to be. I assumed that meant...

Re: did I bend a valve?

The compressor gauge we have isn't long enough to go down into it. Any ideas on how to make it work?

Re: did I bend a valve?

Thanks, Ghost! If the rockers aren't at the right valve clearance does that indicate that a valve is bent?

did I bend a valve?

Okay, so I broke a timing belt going 60mph in the rain. When I tried pushing the gas pedal it was acting like a break. It's a 1995 accord.

What I heard was that it would take a miracle not to have...

Re: what to hold crankshaft pulley with

Thanks! Is there a place I can buy one in town? Does Autozone or O'Reilly carry them? If not, is there another tool I can get today that will do the job?

What's the most inexpensive way to hold the pulley while I try and get the bolt off?

Re: timing belt broke!

Thanks so much! I'm not sure what all that means, but I'll forward the info to my dad.

I'm afraid we might have to try and fix the valves ourselves. Is that a realistic option? We just don't have...

Re: timing belt broke!

Thank you. Is there a way to see if one of the pulleys needs to be replaced before we get the kit? The kit is a lot more expensive than just the belt.

Re: timing belt broke!

Is there a way to check the valves without putting the timing belt on? I'd hate to have to just take it back off again!
