I finally got around to jacking my car up yesterday to check on the intermittent vibration problem. The wheels do not move at all, but I did notice something on the driver's side that looks like it...

Slight wheel vibration at 70mph. Improper lug nut torque or tires out of balance?

After taking my civic's tires off multiple times in the past six weeks for various repair jobs (especially driver's front tire), I noticed driving on freeway yesterday that I was feeling a vibration...

Re: Why don't you have a multimeter in your tool box?

The first two things I bought when I started to work on my car was a manual and a multimeter. They have both been invaluable to me. :)

Re: Rear main seal R/I

LOL, Elle. It's the handiest tool I have in my kit!

OK, old seal is out... and new seal is in. Here's a pic of the seal out of the car... ewwww, it was nasty. :)

Re: Rear main seal R/I

Thanks for the reassurance that the seal is bad. :)

Re: Rear main seal R/I

Justin, I did this to change the seal only. My clutch was replaced in Dec. '09 when I had my tranny bearings replaced. I did not know then to ask the mechanic to go ahead and replace seal too. ...

Re: Rear main seal R/I

I'm not sure I could have gotten the rear support bolts off without removing the pipe. Plus, since I am a beginner and don't really know what I'm doing, I've been trying to strictly follow the...

Re: Rear main seal R/I

I'm halfway through my replacing rear main seal project. :)

Pity, I have a manual tranny, and but for that one stupid frozen bolt on my exhaust pipe, the process has been going very smoothly.

Re: Removing stripped frozen bolt on exhaust pipe. Please help!

It's off!! Yay!! We used the dremel and cut through the bolt, then used an air chisel to break it loose. Geez... we have spent more time with this one bolt than we have doing everything else so far...

Re: Removing stripped frozen bolt on exhaust pipe. Please help!

Thanks for the quick replies!! It is the last of the 3 bolts that attaches the pipe to the cat.

OK... will try the cold chisel now, as I don't want to have to remove the manifold.

Thanks!!

Re: Please Help With Intermittent Buzz

The driveability issues can be subtle and appear random at first as well. For me, I started to lose power on freeway climbing steep grades. Then it felt like it was not firing properly occasionally...

Re: Please Help With Intermittent Buzz

Jaybee, there are probably 100 different things that can cause weird noises and I only suggest the fuel pump as a possibility because of the use of the word "buzz". When my fuel pump went, it was a...

Re: Please Help With Intermittent Buzz

I'm only a beginner mechanic... so take the information for what it is worth. An interior buzzing sound to me makes me think of the fuel pump. :)

Re: Tips for properly storing engine?

canadaek, I hope it is ok that I just sent you a pm with questions rather than reply here and have the thread go off topic on how to care for current engine with a bad oil leak. :)
