looks salvagable to me. but you should take it to a machin shop and have them smooth out the damage so it wont scar the piston skirt and have them do whatever it is they need.

well yeah i understand but it does make a noise difference. but yeah there are way to many variables that play a part.

I think its a combination of everything, muffler,resenator, manifold, displacment, cams, and air velocity as well. even rpms.
why the higher rpm's its a higher pitch sound. and thats why v8 guys do...
