if you want to reset the ecu you have to take the 7.5 amp fuse out or just disconnect the ecu all together for 3 min. not 15 sec. this is not your problem but might help in the future.

you can paint it flat but you NEED to do at least 3 or 4 coats of FLAT CLEAR, with the last 2 coats fairly thick and still tacky if you ever want it to last past the first wash. ...just a side note I...

if you have to "pump the brake" to get it back up I would check the master for leak back

just to put my 2 cents in ....when I put a resonator on my b16 eg it made it nice and deep I was trying to get rid of a buzzing sound and found the key to a nice sounding exhaust....always get...

I had this problem on my b16 and the car wasn't wired for vtec so I had to run them right to the ecu and the wire for the vtec pressure switch and the vtec solenoid were switched.....easy fix
