Re: oil

If you can't find the manual, you can download it from OwnerLink. Just add the car to your vehicles and you'll see the link to the manual.

Re: 95 accord LX HELP!!!!!! I DONT KNOW WHAT IS THIS??

Ask her what it is. Is she the original owner of the car (did she have whatever it is installed) or did she buy the car with that thing already installed? Where is that thing located? I can't...

Re: Vibration between 40-60MPH

Is it a vibration or a shudder? A shudder during acceleration can be caused by a worn inner CV joint, which means replacing the axle. A vibration that happens at different speeds can also be from a...

Re: '98 Accord stalling/no start problem

You can create an account with Honda, enter your VIN, and it (should) tell you what recalls are available and which ones have been completed on your car.

Re: '98 Accord stalling/no start problem

When it stalls, do you lose all the dash lights, radio turns off, etc? A faulty ignition can cause a sudden stall. There was an ignition recall that covered 1997-1999 Accords; do you know if your...

Re: Lower Gas mileage from Ethanol Blended Fuel

Here's my mileage update: 30.2 mpg (put in a little over 11 gallons). So far the plugs seem to be performing very well and are definitely helping my gas mileage.

Re: Confused about main relay.

Well, the main relay has two switches in it - one that controls the fuel pump, and one that also supplies power to the ECU. So, on the surface it looks like the relay does a bit more than just...

Re: Vibration between 40-60MPH

When was the last time you had your wheels balanced? That's a pretty common cause of vibration at a certain speed.

Re: 5th generation accord transmission fluid

Even though the older owner's manual says to use 10w-30, my local Honda service department recommends using Honda MTF. Personally, I'd choose Honda MTF over engine oil.

There's a thread for this, along with a diagram that should help.

Re: I need help

If you got a CEL, you need to check the codes.

Re: I need help

The single wire (which should be red) runs to the positive terminal on the battery. It should be at least an 8GA wire.

Re: I need help

Disconnect the wire from the alternator and also the positive cable on the battery. Connect the meter to those wires - you should have continuity.

Re: Right upper ball joint is apparently bad, can I replace it?

30 ft/lbs. When you are torquing bolts that have rubber bushings, it should be done when the spring is slightly to halfway compressed.

The two nuts that hold the assembly to the strut tower are...

Re: I need help

If it runs while connected to another car, then your charging circuit is hosed. The alternator isn't charging the battery at all. Have you checked continuity on the cable going from the alternator...

Re: Lower Gas mileage from Ethanol Blended Fuel

That's why NGK sent out their minions back in '07 with guidance about switching to a colder plug.

Re: Right upper ball joint is apparently bad, can I replace it?

The upper control arm comes with everything except for the cotter pin, if I remember right.

Re: Right upper ball joint is apparently bad, can I replace it?

Yes, that looks about right.

I highly recommend buying a service manual - it will help you out a ton when you are doing work on your car.

Re: Right upper ball joint is apparently bad, can I replace it?

Yes, the right side is the passenger side. FYI - just call it the upper control arm, since no one bothers to remove/reinstall just the ball joint that's in the arm assembly.

Re: Right upper ball joint is apparently bad, can I replace it?

The upper control arm? You can get them for about $30 from rockauto. I swapped mine when I changed my wheel bearings and tie rod ends, so it was very easy because I had the knuckle out - you don't...

Re: Lower Gas mileage from Ethanol Blended Fuel

I swapped plugs about two weeks ago, and my mpg has increased a bit. I do mainly in town driving (45 mph stop/start, plus 30 mph/15 mph when I'm at work), and I got 28mpg when I filled up on Friday....
