lmao :) how much is gas over there in Cali? we're running about $3.60 for 87, upwards of $4 for premium in SC

Agreed, I did misunderstand exactly where you were coming from. Great discussion topic

i'm pretty sure all sohc ef's call for 87 (there may be some exceptions i'm unaware of)
better mpg or more...

LMAO...and just another thought to add...the few amount of $$$ more we're spending on the occasional higher octane doesn't bother us because we're all still getting 31-40mpg anyway :)

:scared: lmao, I'll put a label on my oil cap that says "synthetic only please" and change my oil in the morning, check my plugs which should still be ok, and see if I notice anymore "weirdness"...

BUT, I'm glad you asked, b/c you just jogged a memory. When my mech did all that service work, he replaced me with standard oil....I HAD been running full synthetic. I've heard rumors once you go...

it was definitely dirty, but not due for an oil change for like another 1500 miles



I didn't check them only because they're brand new (about 1000 miles), but I'll check in the morning.

lol, thanks! unfortunately I've already replaced everything BUT the M.C. and booster....if it acts up again, I'll replace the booster next :) But hey! Then I'll have an entirely brand new braking...

Actually my stock 95 prelude required "premium" (93), it only had 160hp, and from my understanding a lot of honda engines are finely tuned machines, and many honda engines do require premium...

UPDATE:
took the 'ol girl on a 220 mile road trip, avg. speed 75ish, when I reached my destination 1/2 my oil was gone :(

the trip home exactly the same, but this time, all my oil stayed where it...

if it's an older engine, you should prob be running something a little higher than 87, especially if you start to get a ping

87...then 93 once every month or so...that's just what I was always taught by older car guys...run 93 once every now and then, to keep it clean
