I'm with Spawne32. My owner's manual says every 7500 miles. I change the oil at every 5K because it is an easy number to remember.

No, that is not normal.

Are you using Honda ATF? Even though my 98 doesn't exhibit any "jerks", the Honda ATF does work better than the aftermarket ATF.
I can tell even without any "jerks".
