If you are replacing a defective coil then sure why not but there should be no need for a higher output coil on an engine without mechanical issues.

Thanks for the things to check.

The levels look okay, the aux is right on the dot and the main is a hair over the dot.

Not sure which is the power valve so if you can provide any more details...

Well that looks good for an 82. I have owned mine since new and it is showing its age. Most of the damage is heat/UV since it lived in the South East US for the first 14 years of its life.
