Reset check engine light

If you fix an issue that is causing your Check Engine Light to come on, will it reset automatically once the system has detected that its fixed?

Or does it need to be manually reset?

P1456 is for Emission Control System Leak Detected. Usually just means you need to tighten or replace the fuel cap.

No, I have not thought to try that. If it reacted differently I am guessing that would mean it wasn't an issue with the starter?

Symptoms of Brake Light Switch going out

I know one symptom of this happening is that you can't take the car out of park. Does it cause anything else that anyone knows of?
