OK I just went ahead with it since I'm already "all in".

Just got done with round 2 of draining, and here are updated Pics of what came out of the transmission.

-Drain Plug 1 - looking cleaner...

Yep, DW1 the latest and greatest from Honda.

In the past I've seen where changing the contaminated fluid (loaded with friction material from the worn clutches) causes shifting and slipping issues...

Thanks for the tips.

Already got the crush gasket for the down pipe so I'm good to go. I'm going to be tackling it tonight or this weekend so I'll let everyone know how it goes.

Will do. I never had to remove the down pipe last time the whole manifold was taken off.

Is there enough room to pull the downpipe down outside the subframe while the rest of the pipe is still...

^ what they said. I used flex head gear wrenches on mine and it was simple, A mirror from the dollar store helped see exactly where the bolt head was and lining up the holes during re-install.
