Re: Clutch noise when not engaged

I feel dumb asking this but it is possible that I just didn't have the clutch cable adjusted properly? Can an improperly adjusted cable cause the throw bearing to ride the clutch splines?

I recently changed the clutch and throw bearing in my 91 CRX HF because the clutch was starting to slip. Now the clutch makes a constant noise when running in neutral or in gear, but when I engage...

Re: 90 crx hf

You are describing the classic symptom of a bad Main Relay. The solder cracks on the connections over time and causes problems when its hot. You can take it out and pop the cover off to resolder...

Re: How much did you pay for your EF?

$2300 for a 91 stock HF in 2005, $1200 for a 91 Si in 2007 and $2000 for a stock 88 HF in 2008.

I've driven the 88 from Fairbanks, AK to Jacksonville, FL and back. Plan on doing it again this...

Re: 1990 CRX-VX swap

Great thread. I'm looking forward to following this as I want to do the same thing to one on my HFs.

There is a thread on crxMPG detailing a VX swap that you may be interested in reading.

Re: Lifeless rex?

You can bypass the ignition circuit by unplugging the connector (BLK/WHT) from the starter and running a jumper from the positive battery terminal to the starter solenoid terminal. Make sure the car...

Re: 91 crx hf clutch problem

Yeah, sounds like something is loose in the pedal area that is affecting the shift and the positioning of the clutch interlock switch.

Re: 1990 Civic DX w/ auto acceleration bogging down

You just did a lot of work to the car so I would verify that everything was put back together correctly and recheck the timing before I looked at the bogging being a separate issue. Do you have any...

Re: 1990 Civic DX w/ auto acceleration bogging down

Sounds like a timing/distributor issue. If it ran good as gold for 3 or 4 days I would recheck the timing and ensure everything was properly tightened. (distributor bolts, etc.)

Re: 91 crx hf clutch problem

With it not even trying to turn over I would start with checking the mechanical structure of the pedal and making sure you have the correct pedal disengagment height and free play.

Re: Highest MPG for the HF?

I have an 88HF and 91HF both completely stock. My best is 58 mpg in the 88 and 53 in the 91. I don't windmill or anything, just gentle driving.

Re: 91 Crx Hf vin

The DMV has a process for registering a vehicle without a title. For a shell I doubt it would be very much more than a normal register.

I don't think what you want to do is legal.

Re: Car stalled, now won't start...

I would pull the main relay, pop off its plastic cover and inspect the solder joints. The solder joints have a tendency to crack over time and cause the relay to malfunction, especially on hot days....
