Re: FS: 93 Si Racecar Roller

Thanks for the kind words.

We looked into getting a title for the car when we got it, but in addition to the shenanigans required to get a lost title, there was a whole 'nother level of BS to...

Re: Should I buy it?

It's just simply not worth that.

And make sure he's replaced that timing belt, it's way past its replacement interval and it's a common failure if it's not dealt with.

Re: My 2001 Civic EX is driving me nuts, help me please!

A Honda D17 was the first engine I ever pulled the head on, and they're pretty simple. Just follow a service manual and it's real simple. If you've torn apart a SBC, you can handle a D-series.

Re: Looking at an 04 or newer civic..............

I drive mine like I hate it, but since I take care of it, it takes care of me.

Re: Looking at an 04 or newer civic..............

The timing belt service interval is 105K, I believe. Somewhere thereabouts. It's an interference motor, so most people don't try to push it.

I've got an 01 with a 5-sp and it's in great shape. ...

Re: My 2001 Civic EX is driving me nuts, help me please!

Yeah, they're about the only company any more that will read CELs for free.

They also have a free tool loaning program that I've taken advantage of before for obscure things like ball joint...

Re: My 2001 Civic EX is driving me nuts, help me please!

My mistake, I missed that. I would definitely get that code read at Autozone and go from there.

Re: My 2001 Civic EX is driving me nuts, help me please!

RPM sensor? If it's a faulty sensor, the car would be throwing a check-engine light. It's pretty self-diagnostic. I'd run a compression test and go from there. You should be seeing numbers...

Re: My 2001 Civic EX is driving me nuts, help me please!

There could be. Is the engine putting out any white smoke? Even a little? It's an open-deck engine, so pushing coolant is pretty common. It may even be slow enough that the smoke isn't visible.

Sounds like you've done your homework, and the only thing you haven't ruled out is the head gasket.

Re: Clunky Suspension

The suspension on the EM civics and the DC5s is very, very different from previous cars. If you've done it before and you're good at it, you can do it in an hour. It's a Macpherson strut system, so...

Re: Check engine light came on!

It's an OBDII car. It's an incredibly complex piece of machinery.

Obviously throwing a CEL isn't something that should normally happen when you change out the radio, so this isn't a common...

Re: Aem short ram intake ITA trouble

I've run the car with the sensor out of the port but plugged in for a while. Not on purpose, and I can't remember why, but it didn't throw a CEL. Granted, that's not the way to run the car...
