You shouldn't loose any fade or balance control if you use the Alpine amp for the speakers and the phoenix gold for the sub.

Thanks, but I tried that. Some of it is really thick and I can't get to it(behind the metal guard). I read somewhere to try mineral oil.

How do you clean the oil out of the cover before you paint?? I have a valve cover that I picked up from a junkyard, but I need to clean the oil out first.

That sanding and polishing thread would help, but the scratches might be to deep to remove entirely. And you would probably have to recoat/ clear coat the wheel
