Re: Does a bigger turbo housing increase boost?

It ran great before fixing the two issues: replaced headgasket and turbo housing. Then during reassembly, he saw the open port on the intake arm so he capped it. Then during test drives it was...

Re: Does a bigger turbo housing increase boost?

I'm surprised to hear that it could have really been mistuned (due to an obvious open vac leak). This car seems like it was built by a PRO. But I guess we will find the boost controller and try to...

Re: Does a bigger turbo housing increase boost?

It's a turbonetics turbo build with sleeved block and all. He traded for it, but it hauled #*() and ran great for the first year he had it. It always held 7 or 8psi of boost (on the gauge) with no...

Re: Does a bigger turbo housing increase boost?

Your answer is very informative. I will check with him as soon as I can. He said he "swapped the internals" from the old cracked housing to the new housing.

So it is possible to create more...

Does a bigger turbo housing increase boost?

.....asking for a friend with a prelude (h22 turbo). His old turbo housing cracked, and the new housing looks bigger (swapped in his internals??). Now, according to datalog, his MAP sensor detects...

Re: 90 hb cooling fan doesnt turn on

^^^+1.

If applying 12v to test the fan wasn't the first thing you thought out before posting your "what to do" question, I would suggest taking it to a mechanic. Let them test the fan, then...

Re: help my ef wont start just cranks!!

Or it means that your ground isn't good enough to properly ground the spark system...which I believe is mostly achieved by it's physical mount to the engine?? I agree with what someone has already...

Re: 90 ef Si no crank/no start

Re: Headlight wiring HELP

Unless you are an expert at wiring (back to stock), I would consider swapping in factory uncut harnesses. Too many issues??

Re: radar detector hardwire?

I was basically trying to explain that continuity is the inverse (opposite) of resistance.
A resistance of 0.00 is pure continuity; and a resistance of 1.00 is NO continuity. And yes, I agree,...

Re: radar detector hardwire?

You caught me. Once again, I was sleepy and should have stayed off the keyboard. I admit I misworded a few things in that post. I was trying to explain how the terms are connected. You have...

Re: 1990 civic hatch trouble starting

^^+1 I can confirm that my 90 and 91 civics have a clutch safety switch because I have had to replace the flimsy plastic piece in both with a nut&bolt.

but we KNOW it's not a clutch safety switch...

Re: radar detector hardwire?

Yes, the continuity setting is different from voltage. Continuity is the common name for resistance, which is measured in "Ohms". Use Google if you want to see the symbol for "ohms".

When...

Re: radar detector hardwire?

I don't have a clue, but if you know anything about wiring it should be easy for you to figure out.

1) connect the radar ground to a screw-chassis ground.
2) connect the radar positive+ to each...

Re: 1990 civic hatch trouble starting

In the original post, he said it "cranks but wont start" so it's not the clutch safety switch. That's the first thing that came to my mind also. :)

To the original poster, what were the last...

Re: Rattling noise at Cold start up? ( Video)

When is the last time you checked or changed your oil. My truck rattles like that, but I also know it has been long overdue for an oil change, and I am about 1qt low right now.

Logically, oil...

Re: A/C question. It's getting HOT!!!

^^^+1 Bypass the pressure switch as stated, and then you will know if "low pressure" is why your AC compressor clutch won't stay on.

About 1 month ago, I got my 1991 civic from a friend. It...

Re: After REX work... no start.

7oclock?? Again, I am no master mechanic, but I just changed my water pump & timing belt on my D15b1 today...on the D15b1, the crank timing mark is roughly 1oclock, and the cam pulley lines up like...

My first thought was also distributor because I had 2 bad distributors in the same week. "New" doesn't guarantee "defect free." My 1st bad distributor had the constant missing just as you...

I'm no master mechanic, and I know better than to say anything is impossible, but that just sounds fake. For it to spin backwards (and run), i would believe that the complete engine block would have...

Re: replaced battery terminals and now no power

Double check that you have the wires connected to the right terminal, and then check the BIG fuses under the hood. Sounds like you probably blew the main or alternator fuse under the hood,...

I don't know any answers to your questions, but I wanted to tell you about my experience.

I have replaced bad VSS's in several cars, but I especially remember 1 motor/trans swap I put in. I...
