Re: DIY Bilstein revalve project

You have actually got me so into this that I started to build my own dyno. My dyno is going to be pneumatic but gather data using a load cell and a linear pot. I hope to finish it up and get it...

Has anyone tried these? I can't find any info on them. I'm...

Re: P73 piston safety vs Nippon?

I haven't herd of 'Safety' pistons before so no input on those. I have used NPR pistons many times as well as YCP with great luck. NPR's usually measure very consistent and they offer them with...

Re: Main bearings .003 - anyone?

I should have been more clear, D16Y series and the D16Z6 have the same diameter bearings as a B-series. These are not the same bearings though....the B-series appeared to be wider and the tangs are...

Re: Main bearings .003 - anyone?

That's a pretty cool rule of thumb, haven't herd that before. D-series and B-series are the same diameter.

Re: Main bearings .003 - anyone?

0.003" is too loose. Your rods won't be getting enough oil.

Oil flows from the pump, through the filter, to the main cap girdle, to the main bearings, through the crank, to the rods. If you have...

Re: Valve Damage

The new P29's have a higher compression height than the originals so if they are new P29's with a Y8 head you're well over 13:1 compression. The deposits on the intake valves look like aluminium to...

Re: i noticed this upon engine tear down...

The machine shop should be able to hold a tighter tolerance than 0.001" for out of round and taper. I usually run a loose piston to wall clearance. People may comment saying that you'll have terrible...

Re: i noticed this upon engine tear down...

I use Supertechs in everything and have never had a problem, that being said I haven't re-used a set before.

I've seen a few people have problems with low tension rings. I'm more of the thought...

Re: ACL Bearings Made in China!?

I like you was surprised when I saw an ACL bearing that said made in China on it. I've been using (past tense now) ACL for years. I bought a box of Duraglides about a year ago that said made in...

Re: i noticed this upon engine tear down...

The wall scoring on Cylinder #2 is bad. It's common to find ware marks on the thrust sides of the walls, I'd be more inclined to say that the bores are egg shaped and not a general 'to tight' on the...

Re: Crower Cam Specs not matching up

The hot clearance thing must be a misprint. I, like you, have never seen a lash spec given out as 'Hot'. I think the main reason they're not given out as hot is because what is 'Hot'? just off the...

Re: Round 3: Aztec Green Pearl EJ2 Coupe -94! OEM Goodies

I have some small rust repairs to make this winter, sadly like yours there more than just on the surface metal....

Re: gutted dash to no dash

The foam and plastic dash pad weighs next to nothing. The dash bar assembly actually weighs quite a bit so trimming out the steel will help. I like keeping the dash for mounting the gauges and some...

Re: Chumpcar Sebring 14 hour

Wish we could make another trip to Florida! I think we may get the Calabogie crew down to California if everything works out.

We have a double 7 in 2 weeks then we have the Canadian...

Re: zero decking and piston/rod balancing?

Wow, that's a far bigger difference than I would have thought... The wrist pins aren't a problem being out such a small amount; you could pair the heaviest wrist pin with the lightest piston and...

Re: zero decking and piston/rod balancing?

I think you'll be surprised with the quality of OEM Honda parts. Going off my last build (kinda basic GSR road race engine) everything was pretty dam good without any changes. I made a jig to balance...

Re: Main shaft problem, too long?

Hey everyone,

Sorry for the late update, got called away for work. The problem was that I had the 5th and reverse synchro mixed up. All good now, spins nicely and bench shifts just fine

Main shaft problem, too long?

Hey everyone,

I’m having a problem reassembling my transmission. The basic rundown is a B16 that I’ve installed a Type R LSD and 4.4FD from a USDM Integra Type R. The diff install went pretty...

Re: Moroso oil pan or stock (leaking moroso)

I find torquing the pans as described in the manual hasn't worked for me. When torquing them down to spec I find that it squishes the gasket too much and unevenly causing leaks. Instead of torquing...

Re: Fastest track tire with 200 tread wear

Thanks for the info,

I'm just finishing up a brand new build so we're at a blank slate for tires. I'm thinking about trying a set of the US-spec V720 due to the fact that they may be a good...

Re: High end coilover recommendations.

I must say that we tried the "top of the line" Tein damped and it left A LOT to be desired. We ran a few years on a set of Tein RA's and they were generally not bad for the price and they also seemed...

Re: Fastest track tire with 200 tread wear

I can't wait for the RR test, they were making mention of it but the feed cut out right as they started to talk about it..
